Food, glorious food

 Food can be your best friend, or your worst enemy. The right foods in the right quantity – prepared the right way – are the best health and beauty source on this planet. The wrong foods in the wrong quantities can be sheer poison and ruin your health, your looks and you well being. The wrong, nutrition depleted foods combined with the stress and requirements of our modern society, lack of exercise, fresh air and manual labour – will all contribute to rapid ageing and health problems. One of the main health problems of the western world is overweight! Not only the extra pounds and the kilos, but the sorry fact that this extra weight is sheer fat and flab.  This larder is only meant to be a temporary survival source of calories in times of hunger, and it is still extremely important in countries where food is scarce and people are dependent on natures whims and their crops. In the western world this ability to store fat has turned into one of our major health treats. Food is available in abundance, everywhere at all times. Unfortunately, a lot of the foods and drinks are loaded with fats, sugar and refined carbohydrates, additives, artificial tastes and colours, and they are very low in nutritional value. Fortunately, you have a choice! You can go for the real things, and they are also available. More and more shops are offering natural foods, so you just have to be choosy and get good nutrition and good taste for your money. Think quality – not quantity. It is smart to avoid prefab food with glossy pictures – and start buying the real things in their natural packaging. Like an apple is an apple, a fish is a fish etc.  Touch, smell, look – evaluate, and pick the best for you money, your body and your looks. The right foods are the energy your cells need to function properly, and they deserve the real things – not synthetic crap.Image

“Your food is your medicine, your medicine is your food”, said Hippocrates. He also said: “Give me fever, and I can cure all diseases.” It is rather strange – and actually rather ridiculous – that all doctors still pledge the Hippocrates oath when they are certified, but few Western doctors are using the know how of this ancient healer. Unfortunately, modern medicine is based on relatively new pharmaceutical products – aimed at destroying invaders of the body – more than supporting and strengthening the immense healing powers that are inside our body. Most illnesses are, in my opinion, the manifestations of imbalances in the cells and the normal functions of body (or brain) – often related to severe stress, pollution and faulty life style. Illnesses occur when the immune system is overtaxed and cannot cope with the effects and invaders any more. It starts to deteriorate – and the cry for help is effectively silenced by medicines. It is like peeing in your pants: Nice and warm to start with – very cold and nasty after a little while! Unfortunately, lots of medicines have side effects, and you need other medicines to treat (silence) that – and before you know it, you are a VIP customer at the pharmacy and the doctor. This is not the fault of the doctors, most of them are doing a great job – but it is (again in my opinion) – the education and brainwashing they have been through during their studies. But this does not hinder you in thinking and acting differently, and more in the philosophy and know how of Hippocrates. Help your body to heal itself – and help it to function good, better, best on a daily basis. Just give it a try….
